Tone Apart is a rock band built on persistence, friendship, and the love of playing music.

It all started when Chris Bare (guitar) reunited with longtime friend Keith Mixon (bass) after years of neighborhood jam sessions and their earlier run in Sounds Kill. With drummer Tod Weed behind the kit, the three-piece launched as an originals-only project, laying the foundation for what would become Tone Apart.

Soon after, Chris invited his sister Rhiannon Myers to join on rhythm guitar and vocals, and she in turn brought in friend Elizabeth “Lizzie” Ott to take on lead vocals. The lineup grew to five members, mixing originals with covers from artists like Shinedown, Fiona Apple, and The Black Pumas. Life and schedules eventually pulled Rhiannon and Lizzie away, returning the group to its core trio but the mission never stopped.

Flyers went up, songs kept coming, and hope flickered until powerhouse vocalist Jamie Hansen stepped through the door. From her fiery audition opening with Alanis Morissette’s You Oughta Know it was clear the energy matched. Jamie lit up the stage, but once again life had other plans, and the search continued.

This time, when the call went out for an “energetic female fronted vocalist,” the responses poured in. Out of the many, one stood out: Alyssa “Lyssie”, a cool-as-ice multi-instrumentalist who walked in with a Gibson Les Paul in one hand and a keyboard in the other. From improvising over Tone Apart’s originals to nailing cover takes, she added not just a voice but new layers of sound and creativity. With her arrival, the band finally found the missing piece.

Today, Tone Apart is stronger than ever a group that’s weathered changes, sharpened its identity, and continues to evolve. Whether crafting original songs or reimagining favorites, Tone Apart is all about raw energy, heartfelt performance, and the joy of music that brings people together.
